Our baby journey...Part 1

April 2011
Lance and I decided to officially start having children in April 2011. Actually I have been wanting to start having children much sooner, but we agreed to wait at least a few years after we got married in July 2008. For my birthday that year (April 19), Lance surprised me and set up a borrowed crib in one of our spare rooms and gave me a cute stuffed monkey. His gift... Let's have a baby! Great gift..huh! At least I thought so!
So the next step was to see an OBGYN because I knew I had some issues with normal cycles. So that month I saw my new OBGYN. He wanted to do an ultrasound and see what was going on with me. The ultrasound showed lots of polyps and he also diagnosed me with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). We then scheduled a surgery to remove the polyps and get everything cleaned up to be able to start trying to have children.
June 2011
At the beginning of June, I had my surgery and everything went well. I did find out right before the surgery that I was severely anemic from all my issues. I was then out on a prescription iron medication for a few months to get back to normal.
July 2011
In July, I went for a post surgery appointment with my OBGYN. Everything checked out well. I was then recommended to start taking some ovulation induction medicine to improve our chances of conceiving. Because of the PCOS, I don't ovulate on my own very often. So my doctor prescribed a medicine called Femara (Letrozole). This medicine was fairly new to the fertility world. It is actually used to treat certain types of breast cancer. I was unsure of this medicine because of the off label use. My doctor said the other option is the popular ovulation induction medicine called Clomid. He mentioned that Clomid a lot of times does not work for those who have PCOS and has horrible side effects. After a little bit of research, I decided to go ahead with the Femara. So I started my first month!
The first round of Femara did make me ovulate, but no pregnancy. On to another month...
August 2011
To our surprise, we found out we were pregnant! The 2nd month of medicine worked! After doubting several pregnancy tests and asking a friend to make sure I wasn't just seeing things, I made my first OBGYN appointment.  The problem with that was that it was not until I was 8 weeks along. I was only 4-5 at the time. So now to wait!
September 2011
As I waited, my mind was going crazy. Nervous, excited, worried! We told both our families of the news! They were beyond excited that a first grandchild on both sides was coming!

Part 2 to come....
