My husband Lance and I met high school. He was dating a friend of mine and she invited me to the same youth group they both attended. I started attending regularly and became friends or better yet good acquaintances with Lance. My friend and him dated for awhile our freshman year of high school and then eventually broke up. That next summer before our sophomore year, Lance started flirting with me (which I was oblivious to). Then one day at a youth retreat that year, some of our friends decided to ask me if I would date Lance (without him knowing about their asking). My answer...uhhhh...no.
You see Lance was just that annoying, hyper, too outgoing for me high school kid that I had no desire to date. Really at that time I had no desire to date anyone. Lance persisted to make it known that he liked me by flirting, asking me to hang out, etc. I pretty much ignored all that and made excuses not to hang out.
After months and months of never giving up and putting up with my ill-mannered behavior, Lance said do you want to date me or not? If not, he was moving on. I don't blame they guy. Then it hit me, I liked the attention he gave me. I liked that he never gave up chasing me. So I agreed to "go on dates," which the turned into officially dating at some point. By the time we were officially dating it was already the summer before our senior year. You see all that time Lance was chasing and chasing and never giving up. Obviously he liked me! :)
We dated throughout our senior year and ended up going to the same private Christian college unexpectedly.
Lance surprised me and proposed while on a family vacation after our freshman year of college.
We were engaged for almost 2 years and then we got married before our senior year of college! Lance is the perfect husband for me and I couldn't imagine it any other way. And that's just beginning of our love story...
